A GUIDE TO AID THE IDENTIFICATION OF MICRO-MOTH LARVAE
(MIMOLA-ID)

The site is based on the application of a “Multi-Access-Key” developed by theField Studies Council

IDENTIFICATION LIMITATIONS

  • The key is only as reliable as the data in the knowledge base which may contain errors (mine) and interpretations of colours, on the photographs used.
  • I am unable (due to GDPR rules) to contact some Copyright owners.
  • Where I have received permission, the photograph will be visible and accredited. Otherwise, the “awaiting Copyright” note should appear.
  • For a very few of the photos found on the Internet, there has been no indication as to who owns the right, so ownership cannot be stated. I shall be happy to correct/add/delete any which are reported to me and apologise if any harm is caused, though all are used for educational purposes and no financial purpose is involved.
  • In summary, please check the proposed identities with another source if there could be any doubt, especially if you are submitting your records to your County Moth Recorder. (See the butterfly-conservation.org website)
  • The majority of the photos used can be found on ukmoths ukleps.org and lepiforum.de
